The Mission of the Institute of EcoTourism
is to promote the experience of environmentally conscious tourism.
We are committed to addressing environmental problems by promoting environmentally conscious tourism, sustainable community development and experiential, place-based environmental education. Our vision is to ensure that travel and tourism become a means of protecting the natural and cultural resources that the industry and local communities depend upon and that tourists value.Test
The Institute of EcoTourism is dedicated to being a leading educational resource and a catalyst for change in the travel and tourism industry.
In 2002 the United Nations Environment Programme declared that “putting ecotourism on a truly sustainable path is a major challenge, requiring partnership and cooperation between the tourism industry, local people and the tourists themselves.”² The Institute of EcoTourism shares this belief and is committed to a vision of people working together toward sustainable tourism industry throughout the world.
In all, we aspire to become a place where individuals and families can come to enhance their understanding of the natural environment and cultures of our region.
